Tying the Kaboom! Clouser
On this video we are going to tie the Kaboom! Clouser which is a spinoff from a Lefty Kreh style (no tail just the wing) Clouser Minnow. The Clouser Minnow is of course originally tied by the legendary Bob Clouser. The Kaboom! version has a more profiled, full and more tapered wing than the Lefty version and has a solid UV resin body that gives the fly plenty of durability and a cool shape. They are also usually heavier than the originals.
You need a hook of choice, dumbbell eyes to suit your needs, some lead for the body, bucktail, flashabou and nayat to make this fly. I like to use thick UV resin for the body.Makes things a lot easier than using that thin runny shit that some people like,.

Tying the tube extension Beast fly
Просмотров 930Год назад
On this video I'm going to tie my "spinoff" from the original Bob Popovics Beast fly. The original uses mono to make the extension, but on my version we are going to use a tube to make the extension. I've been doing these versions since 2013-2014 and for me they are the easiest way to make a Beast. Be sure to check out @Gunnar_Brammer and watch he's excellent videos on the same fly. He explains...
Triple Threat wiggle tail fly
Просмотров 2,1 тыс.2 года назад
Here's a small to medium size wiggle tail pattern that I catch most of my summer time zanders on and use throughout the season for pike when the pike want a smaller fly. Great for bigger perch too. Hook: Ahrex SA220 size 1 Thread: 8/0 Veevus Tail: Paulo's size M wiggle tail. Body: bucktail and flash Front part: big streamers nayat Eyes: 7mm eyes and a UV bullethead
Silicone + Gorilla glue Candy
Просмотров 1,2 тыс.2 года назад
Here's a soft smushy Surf Candy that sinks slower than the regular ones. Lovely fly when you want to hang your fly in the zone a bit longer. Works great for tunoids and perch, but should also work for basically any predator fish that eats small bait. The combination of silicone and Clear Gorilla glue is a match made in heaven. Silicone creates the perfect base for the flexible body that traps a...
The Cheat Deceiver
Просмотров 1,8 тыс.2 года назад
My favorite Deceiver variant when I want to go small and eliminate fouling. I tie these from 5cm to about 13-14cm and always use a short shank hook for them. It has great shape, awesome movement, very foul proof because of the tight nayat taper up front and is very quick to tie. I use the same pattern for perch, zander, pike and for example Tuna. It's very versatile especially when you tone dow...
Feather back Hollow fly.
Просмотров 2,2 тыс.2 года назад
This is a style that I used a lot more in the past when I had good access to quality feathers. Fat belly combined with a flat(ish) back and grade AAA feathers gives it a great profile and amazing swimming action. They cast like a dream to. One of my favorite patterns to tie and also fish for clear water pike and any SW species that eats a bigger, slow sinking fly. Give it a go! Hook: Ahrex 4/0 ...
Ike's Jig (wiggle tail big version)
Просмотров 8972 года назад
Here's a "top secret" fly that has a pretty long history in my fly box. Originally tied for Striped Bass and with a feather tail around 12 years ago. The fly has evolved over the years and been used to catch big fish here in Finland and in many places abroad. At first it was just an easier way to tie a Half&Half type fly. The round shape is copied from bucktail jigs (hence the name) and proved ...
Flashtail Bullethead Deceiver or FBD
Просмотров 2,6 тыс.2 года назад
Here's a simple pike fly. Tied on a 4/0 @ahrexhooks3652 TP610. These things are quick to tie when the season is on, they fish very well and are very easy to cast. You can easily use shorter average quality bucktail on flies like these as the length and shape is filled in with flash. Hook: 4/0 Ahrex TP610 (best pike hook on the market) Thread: 6/0 Veevus Tail: Paskasärki colored BT, magnum flash...
Tarpon style pike fly

"Tarpon style" pike fly. 4/0 Ahrex hooks TP610. Bucktail, wide magnum flash and Ru Harvey yak hair mix for the tail. Bucktail and skinny flash for the body. A mix of Big Streamers Nayat and Fishient group frenzy fly fiber up front. 3D eyes and some UV. This style of fly is probably my most durable style to make pike flies. The bare shank many times sits right where the "shredder" is on small pi...

Bob Popovics Foil Surf Candy

If I had to choose only one fly to fish for tunoids it would be this. The perfect natural shine from the foil, the overall realistic look and foul proof design is perfect for chasing any type of tuna. This one is tied on a 1/0 9260 VMC live bait hook that can take in anything that you can...
Suspending hollow BULKhead
Просмотров 2,3 тыс.3 года назад
Still one of the easiest and probably my favorite way to make an slow sinking/suspending fly. Flies like these have been done for ages in different forms so nothing revolutionary about it. The use of the foamed up rattle at the back is purely optional. Hook: Ahrex hooks TP610 4/0 Thread: 8/0 Veevus Tail: bucktail and a mix of flash and yak hair. Foam: 3mm foam cut to desired shape and size. Bod...
The rattled up Silicone tube fly
Просмотров 1 тыс.3 года назад
This is a great general tube fly pattern for pike and other big predators. You can rig these with the hook point riding up or down depending on the situation. It will keel and swim straight either way because of it's design. This tube is not heavily weighed by itself. Only the rattle acts as a keel weight on it. You can easily add weight to your leader/connection set up. Different types of cone...
Big profile tube fly
Просмотров 3,3 тыс.4 года назад
Here's a tube pattern that I have used over the years. It's been influenced mostly by Finnish pike fly tiers and has many similar aspects to salmon tube flies. The keeling weight system used on this is a new thing to me and has been stolen from Gunnar Brammer. Thank you Gunnar! Tubes tied this way will always keel, sink and swim straight and have nice gliding action to them. The profile stays p...

Precioso el trabajo 👌
I've been wanting to throw a large pike fly at some louisiana redfish of the beach.
Dude that lil tube to push back the hair is awesome, I was trying to think of a way to do that. Just started tying big flies and this really helped thanks!

Nice!!
nice one!
What is that white tool you are using to push the hair back ?
It's just an empty pencil. I like to keep things super simple.
Tried last week in Dutch polders, very effective on educated pikes, easy to cast. Super fly !
Do you use craft fur or nayat for the head?
I like it bto
may I ask what the streamer is made of? I'm a beginner and I don't know much about it.
Bucktail, flash and Nayat
Solid pattern!!! Nice work!
Great tie for dredging thanks for sharing. What is the name of the song. My daughter is getting married this summer and this would be a great song to use for it.
Another great video. One more stupid question... Is washing the BT flies only there for making it look nice/taking photos? I have mostly not washed mine in the past but they appear to take decent form when fished
Washing them shows you the true form of the fly and washes off any extra dye that might be in the bucktail. Yes it also makes the fly look better for the photos😆
Nice variation on a true classic! I like it!!!……. Thank you Jari!!! 👍🎣
You're back again. And with a Beast fleye. Excellent video.
Great video and fly! Stupid question but what locks the extension mono to the back? Is there a knot bigger than tube diameter or? Is the orange thing at the back piece of silicone tube? New with extended beasts but certainly making some
Yes, you lock up the mono/fluoro/wire to the tube by passing the line through first, then making a loop knot at the end, cutting off the loop and then ramming the knot in to the tube. The orange tube is just regular stiff tube that has a larger diameter so that it can fit the knot and then lock up the whole thing. Kiitos kehuista!
Truly amazing Jari! Your BEAST’s are second to none! The sparseness, flair and layering, truly beautiful tying!
Amazing pike fly
Complimenti per l'accuratezza del montaggio.Questo streamer in acqua credo faccia la differenza.
Löytyykö tuollaista riittävän pitkää bucktailia Suomesta vai oletko tilannut jostain kauempaa?
Kyllä mun kaikki bucktailit Suomesta on. Pitkien eteen joutuu tekemään yleensä vähän enemmän töitä että löytyy.
@@Tajapi mistä löytyy parhaiten, Mistpool, Ruoto?
@@HaukiKarimistpoolista kannattaa kysyä . Samoin toki Ruodosta.
great video! what kind of pattex are you using for the eyes? would you use E6000? getting into big flies tying for pike and using them as big swimbait for blackbass in Portugal
I'm using the old Pattex 100%. E6000 works very well to
Your English is fine and it would be great to hear more from you in the future! Your videos are stellar, no BS, just the the right mix of demonstration and to the point. Why do you prefer to add the Gorilla glue rather than more Silicone?
Cheers! I'm usually pretty fluent in English, but when I turn on the camera it all goes to hell:) . I use gorilla for the top coat because it's crystal clear and I only need a very thin coating of it to make it work.
Very nice. Thanks for sharing!
Great tutorial, thank you for sharing. I'm new to fly tying, Is there a technique or material that will not get "slim or skinny" when it gets wet? So it keeps its " wide, poofy" body?
Try SF (Steve Farrar) Blend synthetic fibers. It keeps its volume when wet, and is great for salt water streamers. Google "Steve Adachi Clouser" for an example fly that uses this material.
@@cs1089 thank you!
Nice! Short and to the point !
Beautiful fly, for my simple deceiver I use 4 hackle feathers at the back, then a small clump of white bucktail with another small clump of chartreuse on top, both tied back. Stripers love it and quick to tie up!
Really cool Pattern, thanks for sharing!
Thank you for sharing Jari, awsome fly :-)
Thank you!
Hey Jari! I am a novice tier. Can you tell me all the material required for tying this fly please. I can handle the tie, but am not familiar with all the materials used. Awesome video tutorial, thanks very much for sharing it.
Sorry for my late reply. You need bucktail, fancy rooster saddle feathers, a bit of thin flash and some body braid to make this fly
@@Tajapi thanks so much for getting back to me! Do you happen to know if anyone has done any type of video tutorial for this fly?? Thanks again for your help Jari!
@@chriskitchen5939 if you need other options my brother Giovanni De Pace has done a great flatwing video

Käytätkö anglehairia tuon bucktailin päälle? Oikein hyvä video! Ja tulee varmasti kokeiltua itsekin tätä reseptiä! 😁
Ohutta fläsää on sivuissa juu. Frenzy fly fiberia joka on hyvin saman tapaista kuin angel hair
Awesome flys and videos glad I came across you been working a lot more with bucktail deceiver patterns after watching all your videos . Keep up the great work buddy cheers
Most appreciated. Thank you
Great fly. Thanks for sharing this pattern. Do you ever add weight to this fly?
Most appreciated!! I don't weigh this particular pattern. The UV bullet head and hook is enough for this one. I use different flies when I want to get close to the bottom.
Why do you use 2 beads ?
Remember to let the silicone dry up before adding the Gorilla.! I forgot to add a text about that in the vid itself even though it's mentioned in the description.
Very technical ! Thanks !
Masterful Jari!!! So killer man!
One more twist and it’s looking great, excellent work, thank you for the time and sharing 🌟
A beautiful fly, my compliments
Great tie jari
Täydellistä hallintaa
Really like this pattern Jari. Perfect small minnow pattern.
Always wondered how you blended your snow runner. Thanks for another great video.
